Jules Knight, is a Consultant Admiral Nurse for Young Onset Dementia at the UK charity Dementia UK. The work of the Young Dementia Network is in advocating for better services and raising awareness of young onset dementia. She has over 25 years of experience working as an Admiral Nurse, with the past 3 years specializing in supporting younger individuals (under age 65) living with dementias like Alzheimer's. She discusses the unique struggles these families face in getting a timely diagnosis, the significant impact a young onset diagnosis has on the whole family, and the glaring lack of appropriate post-diagnostic care and services tailored to their needs. She also gives insights on the importance of building peer support networks for younger families affected by dementia, which she notes is currently lacking.
